The Ministry of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, led by Jéssica de León, has opened, through the Canarian Employment Service (SCE), the new call for subsidies aimed at financing the Training Programs in Alternation with Employment (PFAE) for the year 2026.

This initiative has a total investment of 34.6 million euros from funds transferred by the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, and will allow the implementation of ninety-two projects in which a total of 1,380 unemployed people from the Archipelago will participate.

In the specific case of Lanzarote, five projects will be developed on the island, generating new opportunities for 75 participants.

The PFAE are programs designed to improve the employability of people with the greatest difficulties in labor insertion through effective work in a real environment, combined with the acquisition of certified professional competencies.

Each project, lasting 11 and a half months, has 15 places where selected individuals will sign a contract for alternating training, combining 65% of paid work on public utility or social interest works or services with 35% of theoretical-practical training that will allow them to obtain the corresponding professional certificates.

The recipients of these projects will be unemployed individuals, preferably without professional qualifications or with low qualifications, who face greater insertion difficulties (people with a recognized disability of 33% or more, young people without formal education, or unemployed people over 45 years old) and who are registered as job seekers with the SCE. 55% of the places are reserved for women, prioritizing victims of gender-based violence.

Distribution by islands

To ensure a balanced distribution of public resources, the call assigns at least one project to each of the seven larger islands, distributing the remaining budget based on the number of job seekers.

Thus, Tenerife and Gran Canaria will have thirty-eight projects and 570 participants each; Lanzarote will develop five projects that will generate new opportunities among the 75 participants; La Palma and Fuerteventura will execute four projects each, benefiting 60 people per island; La Gomera will host two projects (30 participants) and El Hierro will have one project (15 participants).

The deadline for the submission of applications by accredited entities is 20 days from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC). Applications will be made through the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands.
