Unemployment in Lanzarote fell by 1.6% in September, which is equivalent to 112 fewer people on the island's unemployment lists, according to the Canarian Employment Observatory (Obecan).
Thus, the total number of unemployed on the island amounts to 7,077 people. Compared to twelve months ago, when there were 7,692 unemployed, the unemployment rate in Lanzarote has decreased by 8%.
By municipality, unemployment fell most notably in Yaiza, Haría, and Tinajo, where the decrease was greater than 4%, while in Arrecife and Teguise it was close to 2%.
In contrast, San Bartolomé experienced a slight decrease, while Tías was the only municipality where unemployment grew, specifically by 1.9%.
In the rest of the islands, unemployment also falls, although less than in Lanzarote, with the exception of El Hierro, where it rose by 5.9%.
After Lanzarote, unemployment fell the most in Fuerteventura and La Gomera (-0.9%), followed by Gran Canaria (-0.7%), Tenerife (-0.4%), and La Palma (-0.3%).
