Lanzarote reaches all-time highs in Social Security affiliations

The island added more than 600 affiliations to Social Security in March and is about to reach 74,000 contributors

Hostelry represents a third of affiliations to Social Security.

In March, 606 people affiliated with Social Security in Lanzarote, reaching a total of 73,940 contributors to the Public Institute, according to the Lanzarote Data Center with data from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).

This is the highest number since ISTAC began publishing this data in 2010 when the number of affiliations barely exceeded 40,000.

By municipalities, Arrecife added 218 contributors in March and is close to reaching 31,000 affiliations. In Teguise there were 75, up to a total of 10,747 contributors.

Tías added 107 contributors up to 9,226 affiliates, while in San Bartolomé there were 82 up to a total of 9,153 contributors.

In Yaiza, 84 people joined the Public Institute last month. The total number of contributors in the south thus rises to 8,457 people.

In the north, 16 more people were registered, so Haría reached 2,253 contributors. In Tinajo there were 24 more affiliates up to a total of 3,207 people.

 

The hotel industry continues to represent a third of the affiliations

By sectors, in the first place is the hotel industry, which exceeds 23,000 affiliations, followed by commerce, which widely exceeds 12,000 contributors.

Health activities encompass more than 5,500 contributors, as do administrative tasks. Education accounts for more than 2,800 contributors and technical professions give rise to about 2,200 affiliates.

Transport and construction each contribute around 4,500 affiliations, public administration exceeds 3,000 and the manufacturing industry represents more than 1,500 contributors.
