Lanzarote closed 2024 with a total of 60,120 labor contracts signed during the year, according to the Lanzarote Data Center based on statistics from the Canary Islands Employment Observatory.
The figure represents a percentage growth of 5.2% and 2,961 more labor contracts than those signed during 2023, when there were 57,169.
The vast majority of the growth in hiring was due to the hospitality industry, which added 29,956 contracts, 2,680 more than the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the commerce sector, 8,513 contracts were formalized (431 more than the previous year), while in the rest of the services, excluding the two sectors mentioned, there were 17,610 contracts (516 more).
Far behind, the construction sector led to the signing of 2,254 contracts (almost 700 less), while industry accounted for the formalization of 1,453 contracts during the past year (74 more).
Finally, agriculture meant a new labor contract for 344 people, almost 50 less than those hired in 2023.
