Lanzarote added 147 new affiliations to Social Security in May, so the total number of contributors on the island reaches 70,564 and thus accumulates five consecutive months of increase.
Twelve months ago there were 66,303 contributors, so the year-on-year increase amounts to 6.1%, according to figures published by the Lanzarote Data Center.
The majority of the new affiliations in May occurred in Arrecife, which added 189 contributors and compensated for the declines in other parts of the island. Teguise and Haría also added affiliations, specifically nine and four respectively.
On the other hand, the rest of the municipalities lost contributors. In San Bartolomé, 26 taxpayers were discharged, so the total for the municipality is 8,904 affiliated people.
In Tías, which currently has 8,989 affiliations, the number of contributors decreased by seven people, while in Tinajo and Yaiza the total number of contributors decreased by six people in each of the two municipalities. The current total of contributors in Yaiza is 7,931 people, while Tinajo amounts to 3,150.
