The Ministry of Tourism and Employment will open a call for grants that will finance 17 Alternating Training with Employment-Youth Guarantee projects (PFAE-GJ) for this 2026. The initiative will have an investment of 7,105,730.75 euros and will seek to benefit 255 young job seekers in the archipelago.
Jéssica de León, Minister of Tourism and Employment, highlighted the Government's commitment, which, along with that of those over 45 years of age, focuses the efforts of her department. "The Ministry's work is not only aimed at reducing youth unemployment figures, but at generating future opportunities so that no young person is left behind," she assured.
According to the minister, the implementation of these types of projects that provide young people with paid experience and personal qualifications will facilitate their access to stable jobs. "Youth guarantee programs precisely allow for improved employability and, therefore, facilitate their labor market integration," she says.
León also explained that these mixed training actions, which combine training and employment, "respond to the real needs of the Canary Islands labor market and build a solid pathway for those who face more barriers to accessing employment."
"Our priority objective is to support and train the most vulnerable young people, ensuring that they acquire skills demanded by the productive sectors of each island," she pointed out. It should be noted that the initiative will prioritize individuals without formal education and under 30 years of age; furthermore, 55% of the places will be reserved for women.

The PFAE-GJ combine formal learning with paid work in services or works of social interest. Selected individuals will sign an alternating training contract for 11 months, dedicating 65% of their working hours to effective paid work and 35% to theoretical-practical training to obtain professional certificates.
To ensure territorial cohesion, the call guarantees at least one project per island. Thus, Tenerife and Gran Canaria will have six projects per island and 90 participants in each; while Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro will develop one project and 15 places in each territory.
