The hotels in the three tourist municipalities of Lanzarote have a total of 8,905 employees at present, which is 338 less than the 9,243 workers that were recorded a year ago.

However, the behavior has been very different by municipalities. While employment has risen in Yaiza during the last year, it has plummeted in the hotels of Teguise and has fallen slightly in Tías.

The hotels in the municipality of Teguise have reduced their staff by 19.3% in the last twelve months, according to data from the latest Hotel Tourist Situation in August, which has just been published by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

If in August 2024, the hotel establishments in the municipality of Teguise had 2,324 employees, last month there were only 1,947, which means a loss of 377 direct jobs

Also in Tías there has been a decrease in the staff of the hotels, although much less bulky than in Teguise.

The municipality that includes Puerto del Carmen currently has 2,559 people employed in its hotels, 3% less than those who worked twelve months ago when there were 2,638.

On the other hand, the hotels in Yaiza increased their staff by 2.7% in the last year, going from 4,281 workers in August 2024 to a total of 4,399 last month.
