Coalición Canaria will propose to the Government in the negotiation of the 2025 State budgets a partial exemption of Social Security contributions for those companies that pay above the agreement of the sector, in order to encourage a recovery of wages.

It is a proposal that has been advanced by its general secretary and president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, before meeting with the Canary Islands Confederation of Entrepreneurs, the business association of the province of Las Palmas, to discuss, among other issues, its call to sectors such as tourism to negotiate salary increases in line with the levels of benefits they are obtaining at this time.

The Canarian president has detailed that it would mean that the company does not have to contribute for the part of the salary it pays to its staff above the agreement collective applicable to your sector.

"That can help until, at least, the Canary Islands equate in average salary to the average of Spain (now has the second lowest salaries in the country). It can help to encourage those entrepreneurs who want to pay more to offer them that they do not have to pay more in salary and pay more in Social Security", he indicated.

Clavijo has also acknowledged that he believes that with the current economic situation and with a rising tax collection, the Government of Canarias has "room for a tax cut".

"You have to be honest, there is room, but, of course, we want that tax cut to reach the generality of Canarian society, we do not want it to go outside or increase business profits in the end," he pointed out.
