The Minister of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Nieves Lady Barreto, attended today the presentation of the 20 new vehicles that the Government has acquired to increase the fleet of the Autonomous Police (CGPC). At the event, she was accompanied by the Vice-Minister of Justice and Security, Cesáreo Rodríguez; the Director General of Security, David del Pino; the Chief Commissioner of the CGPC, Antonio Almenara, and the Minister of Security and Emergencies of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Blanca Pérez.
Nieves Lady Barreto highlighted the Government's "decided" commitment to the Autonomous Police, which has been reflected in an increase in personnel and material resources. "These vehicles are added to the twenty that were incorporated in 2024 to reinforce the material resources of the Corps," she pointed out.
Of the 20 police vehicles, 16 are SUV patrol type, half of them with a partition for detainees, and 4 intervention vehicles. All will be incorporated into the fleet to guarantee the proper provision of services entrusted to them due to the growth experienced in the Corps and the increase in staff. The investment exceeds 780,000 euros.
With these new resources, the Autonomous Police will have a fleet composed of a total of 128 vehicles, including cars, SUVs, vans, and motorcycles, both leased and owned, which are distributed between both provinces. In addition to marked vehicles, there are also unmarked ones for certain missions.
