The works council of Naviera Armas has conveyed a message of calm to the staff after the meeting held with the president of the company, Adolfo Utor; the general director, Georges Bassoul; and the Human Resources Management, in which the evolution of the Balearia Canarias project in the Archipelago was discussed.
Utor has ratified his commitment to maintaining jobs, the continuity of routes, his willingness to keep all acquired vessels that currently operate under the Spanish flag under the Spanish flag, and the reinforcement of staff in the Canary Islands.
For the committee, this message allows for clearing up the uncertainties generated in recent weeks by various pieces of information and rumors that had caused concern among the staff.
The committee emphasizes that these commitments must serve to provide stability to the workers of Naviera Armas and to reinforce confidence in the future of the project in the Canary Islands, always with respect for labor rights and working conditions.
More than a hundred new hires and permanent dialogue
The works council also highlights that the company has reported the hiring of more than one hundred new employees in less than a month and a half in Naviera Armas Flota and Artra, companies integrated into Balearia Canarias, with the aim of strengthening staff and achieving the service and quality standards set by the company.
It considers this reinforcement positive, although it insists that it will remain vigilant to ensure that the commitments made by management are materialized and respond to the real needs of the staff.
The committee values management's willingness to maintain fluid communication with the representation of the workers, as well as their availability to clarify any issues related to the evolution of the business project in the Archipelago.
In this regard, the workers' representative body calls on the staff to "not give credibility to unverified information or information that does not come from official channels, and reminds them that it will continue to channel any queries and concerns that may arise."
