The College of Social Graduates of Lanzarote hosted a training day focused on the socio-labor insertion of people with intellectual disabilities. The meeting brought together a large group of social graduates and labor advisors from the island.
The session featured the intervention of Yaiza Tortosa Alonso, Socio-labor Insertion technician at ADISLAN, who delved into the importance of prospecting with companies and the role played by the entity in creating employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
"Collaboration with the business fabric is fundamental to generate real employment opportunities," she highlighted. Tortosa explained the operation of employment support programs and emphasized the work of the social initiative Special Employment Center Grevislan, a key piece in the generation of adapted job positions, whose objective is to facilitate its workers' access to ordinary employment.
The day also included the participation of Juan de Dios Fernández Lupiáñez, inspector of Labor and Social Security, who addressed the regulatory aspects of Law 1/2013, General Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and their Social Inclusion. His intervention allowed clarifying frequent doubts about the application of the regulations, especially regarding the hiring of people with intellectual disabilities and the fulfillment of business obligations.
The attendees —social graduates, advisors, and professionals in the labor field— had the opportunity to raise common queries they receive from companies interested in hiring people with intellectual disabilities. The meeting thus became a key space for dialogue and updating, aimed at breaking down myths, resolving uncertainties, and encouraging more companies in Lanzarote to take the step towards inclusive hiring.
From ADISLAN, the participation and interest shown was very positively valued, highlighting that this type of initiative is key to advancing towards real and sustainable labor inclusion, where people with intellectual disabilities can access decent, stable and adjusted employment to their capacities.
