How is a song born? Where does a melody come from? How is an idea transformed into lyrics and ends up becoming a song? These are some of the questions that Rosana will address in a masterclass on musical creation and composition that will take place on October 17 at the Casa de la Cultura in Arrecife.

The session will take place from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with free access until full capacity, and will offer attendees the opportunity to get closer to the creative process of one of the Spanish composers with the longest international career.

Over four hours, Rosana will share her experience and knowledge on the song creation process, from the emergence of a first idea to its transformation into a composition, addressing issues related to inspiration, writing, melody, emotion, and the search for one's own voice.

More than a masterclass as usual, the meeting aims to become a space for participation, learning, and exchange, in which music serves as a meeting point between the experience of an artist with an extensive career and the creative concerns of the participants.

More than three decades creating songs

The choice of Rosana as the person responsible for this masterclass is linked to a career closely tied to musical creation and composition.

Since the release of “Lunas Rotas” in 1996, her first album, Rosana has released nine albums —eight studio and one live— and has developed an international career that sums up more than 15 million records sold, with her works released in more than 30 countries. Added to this career is the impact of her music in the digital environment, with more than a billion downloads throughout her career.

As a composer, some of her songs are already part of the musical memory of several generations. “Si tú no estás” was one of the four Spanish songs selected, out of millions, to be part of the first Songbook of the European Union.

Creation as a tool for transformation

The masterclass is part of +Que Barrios (+q’B’s), a community initiative integrated into OMOW, the creative universe that Rosana launched in 2025.

OMOW brings together different cultural, educational, and social projects that have music, art, participation, and collaborative creation as their axis. Among its initiatives are the docuseries “Mejor vivir sin miedo”, the community project +Que Barrios, the tour “Vamos a Star”, and different collective creation experiences. Precisely, last September, Rosana presented “Las SALAS de Arte, by Rosana. 30 años de Lunas Rotas”, an exhibition celebrating the 30th anniversary of the album that marked the beginning of her recording career. The exhibition, an artistic and participatory experience, can be visited at La Casa Amarilla in Arrecife (Lanzarote) until November 2026.

With this masterclass, +Que Barrios (+q’B’s) continues to generate meeting spaces around culture and participation, bringing the knowledge and experience of creative professionals to the territory and offering citizens the opportunity to discover new forms of artistic expression.
