An airline to Lanzarote eliminates the fuel surcharge

The airline thus guarantees more stable prices on its nine routes from Lanzarote to Asturias and eight other destinations in France

The low-cost airline Volotea eliminates the fuel surcharge and guarantees its summer flights starting this Wednesday, June 10, on all new bookings.

The Spanish company connects Lanzarote with 9 destinations. One of them in Spain, specifically with the airport of Asturias, and another eight with the French cities of Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Paris, and Toulouse.

The company has also announced that travelers will be able to modify the details of their bookings without having to pay additional management fees and that the company will internally absorb fluctuations in the price of crude oil so as not to pass the cost on to the customer.

Volotea introduced a policy last March that linked ticket prices to the cost of fuel in the face of the sudden escalation of oil prices caused by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Instead of raising the base price of all tickets, they reviewed the price of Brent crude oil just 7 days before the flight. Thus, if fuel prices rose, Volotea could charge a surcharge of up to 14 euros per passenger.

Along with this measure, the company has confirmed that its summer season schedule remains intact, ruling out any flight cancellations.

Volotea argues that the situation in the airline sector has changed: it is no longer a temporary crisis, but a long-term structural challenge derived from global energy instability, which requires seeking more sustainable solutions over time.
