The second-hand car market in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria has experienced a growth of 14% so far in 2025 compared to the same period last year.

During the first six months of the year, a total of 4,410 used vehicles were sold in the province, compared to the 3,869 sold last year, according to data provided by the sector's employers' associations GANVAM (official and independent distributors) and Faconauto (dealerships).

In the whole of the Canary Islands, a total of 8,231 units were sold, representing a growth of 10.3% compared to the same month last year.

This evolution is part of a context in which, in the country as a whole, 1.8 used cars are sold for each new registered car.

At a national level, in an analysis by age, sales of cars and SUVs up to five years old accumulate a growth of 7% in the first semester, reaching 276,921 units, which represents 26% of the used car market.

On the other hand, models between eight and ten years old registered an increase of 13.5% until June, reaching 62,423 units. During the past month, they rose by 17%, with a total of 10,657 units.

These models are the protagonists of import operations, which explains why this channel accumulates an increase of 14.7% so far this year, although it concentrates 6.2% of the market.

The data from the sector's employers' associations reflect that the bulk of operations with second-hand cars continues to be concentrated in models over 15 years old
