Used cars in the Canary Islands have become 5% more expensive in a year

However, the average price of a used vehicle in the archipelago is still about 1,500 euros below the national average price

The price of used cars in the Canary Islands rose by 5% last February in year-on-year terms, standing at an average of 11,366 euros, although it is still below the national average for Spain, which was 12,912 euros, according to the National Association of Used Vehicle Dealers (Ancove).

In a statement released this Friday, Ancove has reported that the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife recorded a price increase of 7.5%, while that of Las Palmas, of 3.3%.

In February, 6,935 units were sold in the Canary Islands, of which 3,203 were in Las Palmas, where the average price was also higher than in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 11,778 euros compared to 10,900 euros in the western province.

According to the Ancove note, in relation to January of this year, the price of used cars has risen by 2.8% in the Canary Islands, while in the national total it has done so by 0.9%.

For cars over 8 years old, an average of 8,393 euros was paid in February, a 7.3% increase in year-on-year terms; the national average price was 9,912 euros, a 4.3% increase in relation to February 2023.

Compared to January 2024, the price in the Canary Islands rose by 2.6% and in the national average it increased by 0.8%; the weight of these cars was 63.4% of the total used car market, compared to 61.2% of the national market.
