The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands, led by Mariano H. Zapata, announces that 2,458 applications have already been submitted for the call for aid from the MOVES III 2025 program, aimed at the acquisition of "plug-in" electric and fuel cell vehicles and for the implementation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

This program, which has a total budget of 18,342,808 euros from the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE), has an application period that began on August 2, 2025, and will end on December 31. Applications can be submitted through the following link. Individuals, the self-employed, companies, associations, homeowners' associations, and administrations can apply.

According to Councilor Zapata, these figures mean that "60% of the budget allocated to the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands has already been requested, more than 11.7 million euros," which demonstrates the interest of the islands' citizens "in joining a mobility model that is more respectful of the environment."

In this way, Zapata stated that this citizen interest "is in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands and its commitment to electric mobility, since it offers multiple environmental, economic, and social benefits."

In addition, he explained that the call has two programs. One "aimed at the acquisition of electric and fuel cell vehicles, with an allocation of 12,097,967 euros"; and another focused on "the implementation of charging infrastructures, endowed with 5,127,700 euros."

The counselor detailed that the maximum amount of 7,000 euros can be reached in the case of acquiring a fuel cell vehicle, including the scrapping of the previous vehicle, or up to 4,500 euros without scrapping. Likewise, subsidies of up to 9,000 euros can be reached in the case of vehicles intended for cargo transport, such as vans or trucks, and that have been scrapped. In the case of installing charging points, the maximum amount of 5,000 euros per request will be reached.

Zapata also urged future grant applicants not to wait until the end of the call to submit their application, predicting that "with the current rate of submissions, the funds will likely run out in early December."
