The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of Canary Islands, led by Mariano Hernández Zapata, has opened a new call for subsidies to promote sustainable urban mobility in the archipelago, endowed with 1,875,000 euros and co-financed through the FEDER Canarias 2021-2027 Program.
To consult any information about these subsidies, interested parties can contact the Canary Islands Energy Offices. Likewise, an online training course will be held next Friday, June 19, where possible doubts about the call can be resolved.
These are grants aimed at both the acquisition of electric or zero-emission vehicles for the collective transport of passengers, and the implementation of public access charging infrastructure, with the aim of continuing to advance in the reduction of emissions and the decarbonization of transport in the Canary Islands.
The Minister of Ecological Transition and Energy, Mariano Hernández Zapata, highlighted that “sustainable mobility is a key piece for advancing in the ecological and energy transition of the Canary Islands, which is why the Government continues to promote measures that facilitate the incorporation of cleaner and more efficient technologies in public and professional transport”.
The line aimed at the acquisition of electric vehicles is aimed at public or private companies that provide collective passenger transport services, as well as at holders of taxi licenses and vehicles for hire with a driver (VTC). The grants may reach up to 30,000 euros per vehicle depending on its category and whether or not another vehicle is scrapped.
For its part, the line aimed at charging infrastructure will allow the subsidization of the installation of public access charging points of different powers, which may reach up to 100% of the eligible investment in the case of local corporations and public companies.
The call establishes a specific reserve of funds for transport companies and professionals, city councils, and island councils, with an allocation of up to 625,000 euros for each of these sectors. The grants will be awarded in order of application until the available credit is exhausted.
Interested individuals and entities may submit their applications until July 13 through the electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy.
Online training session: June 19
Furthermore, in this line of continuous dissemination and support for potential beneficiaries of this type of aid, the Ministry of Transition has organized, through its Service for Energy Efficiency and New Technologies and in collaboration with the Canary Islands Energy Offices (OEC), from where the call has already been sent, a training day that can be followed online next Friday, June 19, starting at 11:00 a.m., with an approximate duration of one hour.
This technical day, to which interested parties can sign up by sending a message to the email address estrategia@oficinasenergia.com, will be aimed at both town councils and island councils, entities such as the Provincial Federation of Metal and New Technologies Companies of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Femete) and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Femepa), the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations CEOE Tenerife, the Canary Confederation of Employers of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the Technological Institute of Renewable Energies (ITER), the Office for Energy Transition of Tenerife (OTE), the Insular Council of Energy of Gran Canaria, as well as other public or private companies and owners of taxis or vehicles for hire with a driver.
During the meeting, the keys to the call and the requirements for submitting applications will be detailed, reserving the final part to address all doubts that may arise.
To resolve any doubts regarding this subsidy, the Canary Islands Energy Offices attend to the public during morning hours on the five working days of the week, both in person and by telephone (922 533 533) or by email (oficinasdeenergia@oficinasdeenergia.es and eficienciaenergetica.energia@gobiernodecanarias.org).
