The Government of the Canary Islands will implement from this Friday the zero quota for self-employed workers who are beneficiaries of the flat rate and who registered from 2023, to whom a full year of their Social Security contributions will be paid in the form of a subsidy.
The Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Economy, Industry, Commerce and Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez, announced this Thursday that this measure will be maintained indefinitely, or at least while this executive continues.
To apply for the aid, the self-employed must have contributed for a full year, so for now those who registered between January and March 2023 can apply.
Manuel Domínguez pointed out that, according to the calculation made by the General Directorate of Self-Employed Workers of his department, some 3,500 self-employed workers are entitled to request the refund of their contributions throughout 2024, which correspond to those who registered last year.
The initial budget is 2.5 million euros and it is not a one-off subsidy, but will continue in subsequent years, so that in 2025 those who register in 2024 will be able to apply for it once they have completed their first year of contribution.
The most important requirements to qualify for this aid is that the self-employed person is located in the Canary Islands and is a beneficiary of the flat rate, which is about 80 euros per month.
The applications must be submitted through the computer application for managing the call, located on the electronic headquarters of the Public Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands.
