The Government of Spain will transfer to the Canary Islands 7,850 million euros in 2027 as advance payments of the financing system, 7.8% more than this year, as reported this Monday by the Ministry of Finance.
If the 2025 settlement forecast is added to that figure, the total financing rises to 8,899 million, 9.1% above the previous year.
"Never before had the Canary Islands government had so many resources," assures the Ministry of Finance, in a statement.
The set of State territories will receive 170,529 million euros next year, 8.1% more than in 2026, the highest figure ever recorded. Since the beginning of Pedro Sánchez's government, the autonomous communities have seen the financing they receive from the central administration improved every year.
If the settlement of the model is added, the total resources amount to 185,593 million, 9.1% more compared to 2026. A historic transfer that will be further increased if the new financing model is approved.
The Minister of Finance, Arcadi España, highlights that these advance payments show "the Government's commitment to the financial sustainability of the Autonomous Communities" and has called for the increased resources to be used to strengthen the welfare state.
