The strawberry was the agricultural product that most increased its price at origin in the Canary Islands in one year: a 25.4% more expensive than the previous year.

Last January, each kilo of strawberries had a price of 6.37 euros, when in the same month of the previous year the price was 5.08.

Other products have also become more expensive, such as tomatoes (25.3%), tropical pineapples (19.4%), lettuces (16.0%) or avocados (14.0%), according to the agricultural price statistics published by the Canarian Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).

In contrast, cabbages and mangoes are the products that have most decreased in price at origin during the last year.

In the case of cabbages, the annual decrease has been 47.9% (in January 2025 they were paid at 0.73 euros per kilo and this year at 0.38). Mangoes have dropped from the 4.84 euros they cost last year to the 2.61 euros they are paid now, a decrease of 46.1%.

Products such as pumpkins (-35.4%), cauliflowers (-29.2%) or green beans (-13.4%) also decreased in price.

This statistic refers to the average price at which it is sold at origin, that is, the price perceived by the agricultural community, not the final price paid by the consumer.
