The Las Palmas Port Authority continues to be one of the most profitable in the Spanish port system. "The profitability of the ports of the Las Palmas Port Authority is higher than 2.5%, therefore, we do not receive compensation funds, but we contribute almost 2 million euros net to the port system," explained its president Beatriz Calzada.

Regarding the works being carried out by the company Global Ports Canary Islands S.L. at the cruise terminal of the Los Mármoles Dock, in the Port of Arrecife, she reported that they will be completed at the end of this month of October, just for the beginning of the high season. The work on the Naos Dock terminal, in the Port of Arrecife, will culminate at the end of 2024.

The works will be completed within the planned deadlines, despite the fact that Global Ports has requested an extension to finalize the administrative and documentary process. Beatriz Calzada indicated: "Global Ports has been in constant contact with the shipowners and cruise lines to inform them of the progress of these operations, which have proceeded with complete normality during the development of the works, as well as to inform them of the works and the new terminals."

Likewise, the Las Palmas Port Authority has joined the WindEurope Association, to which other ports such as Bilbao, Tarragona or A Coruña, among others, already belong. The purpose of this association is to promote national, European and international policies and initiatives that strengthen the full development of European and global wind energy markets, technology and electrical systems; as well as to promote research, development and innovation in wind energy, to be the single and united voice of the European wind energy industry through the joint efforts of its members and to be the engine of the future direction of the sector.

In other matters, the Council has agreed to the designation of María Fernández as representative of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands on the Board of Directors of the Las Palmas Port Authority and the separation of Airam Díaz. In addition, the Maritime Captain of Las Palmas, Francisco García, and Jesús Requena, representative counselor of State Ports, have said goodbye to the Council, to whom the president has thanked for the service provided during these years in the Port Authority.
