The naval industry of the Canary Islands moves to Hamburg to forge alliances

They are meeting with the main actors of the sector worldwide, including shipowners, shipping companies, as well as shipyards, auxiliary industry and also the offshore wind sector.

Canary Islands is participating until this Friday in the SMM Hamburg, one of the most important naval sector fairs worldwide, where meetings are promoted between the main shipowning companies, shipping companies, shipyards, auxiliary industry and also the offshore wind sector, accompanied by associations, clusters and specialized public agents.

This action is part of the project "Strengthening the sustainable growth and competitiveness of SMEs that make up the productive fabric of the Blue Economy sectors in the Mid-Atlantic" (A3MAtlantic), of which Proexca is a partner and the Maritime Cluster of the Canary Islands acts as leader. This project has been provisionally approved in the latest call of the Interreg Mac 2021-2027 Program co-financed with ERDF funds and whose objective is to promote innovation and internationalization of SMEs in the regions of the mid-Atlantic with activity in the blue economy.

Proexca is in charge of organizing meetings between companies, in which it is sought that the participants in the commercial mission expand their business opportunities, draw up joint action lines and achieve greater visibility and dissemination.

The joint participation of the Canarian delegation joins the Basque Maritime Forum, the maritime industry cluster of the Basque Country (FMV) that organizes the grouped participation in the fair, with the support of ICEX Spain Export and Investments within the framework of the Sector Plan 2024.

The Canarian delegation is made up of the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster, Canary Islands Federation of Port Companies FEDEPORT, the Tenerife Port Authority, the Tenerife Association of Naval Repair, Supply and Port Activities Companies (ATI - COM), Acosta Ingeniería Marítima, Edataconsulting, Reparaciones Navales Canarias, Grupomecánica, Turbocompresores Navales, Talleres Quintana, Incargo, Aislamientos Técnicos Canarios, Miller y Compañía, Boluda&Suarez, Canarias Ingeniería Civil, La Luz Market and Boluda Lines.

This type of meeting, specifically this fair, represents for the public and private sector of the archipelago the opportunity to advance in the naval ecosystem, to export knowledge and create new lines of business and/or commercial agreements that help boost the Canarian economy in strategic sectors.

The diversification of the Canary Islands' economy is a priority for the executive and this is transferred in the lines of action of companies and public and private agents.
