The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa celebrates this year its twentieth anniversary, a milestone that marks two decades of uninterrupted service to the economic and social development of the islands.

Since it began its journey, the chamber institution has established itself as the "voice of the business sector and an indispensable driving agent for the competitiveness of companies, freelancers, and entrepreneurs".

This 2026 is not just a date on the calendar, but the reflection of a trajectory dedicated to strengthening the local economy. Throughout these twenty years, the Chamber "has evolved at the pace of society, going from being an administrative support entity to becoming a strategic partner that leads significant projects in areas such as entrepreneurship, internationalization, sustainability, or employment".

For its president, José Valle, this anniversary is an opportunity to claim the evolution of the entity: "Looking back allows us to appreciate the path traveled and highlight the exponential growth we have experienced, multiplying our presence and our capacity for influence to defend the interests of Lanzarote and La Graciosa".

Valle highlights that the institution has made a qualitative leap in its usefulness and professionalization, pointing out that "I feel very proud to lead a Chamber that today is stronger, more ambitious and is more connected than ever to the reality of our people." Far from self-complacency, the president reaffirms his will for improvement: "Our commitment is to keep pressing forward. We are not content with what has been achieved; we look to the future with the ambition of continuing to transform our economy and of being the ally that our companies need to lead the challenges that are to come."

Navigating the uncertainty

The Chamber has been a witness and protagonist of the transformation of the island's productive fabric, facilitating the creation of hundreds of companies and training thousands of professionals. Its role has been decisive in moments of uncertainty, acting as a permanent bridge for dialogue between the private sector and public institutions to ensure that the interests of the islands are heard in all spheres.

The Chamber has been a witness and protagonist of the transformation of the island's productive fabric, facilitating the creation of hundreds of companies and training thousands of professionals. Its role has been decisive in moments of profound uncertainty, especially during the COVID-19 health crisis, where the Chamber consolidated itself as a "vital aid tool", managing information, aid, and logistical support so that no SME or self-employed person felt alone in the most difficult moment of our recent history.

That performance as a permanent dialogue bridge between the private sector and public institutions continues to be today the DNA of the entity, ensuring that the interests of the islands are heard in all spheres and administrations.

On the occasion of this anniversary, the Chamber has designed a calendar of commemorative activities that will be developed and disseminated throughout the entire year. These initiatives seek not only to celebrate the past, but to project the entity's vision for the future together with its partners and collaborators.

The program will culminate with an institutional event of great relevance that will bring together a wide representation of local businesses, as well as the authorities and personalities who have been a fundamental piece in these 20 years of growth and chamber consolidation. This meeting will serve as recognition for the collective effort that has allowed the Chamber to be positioned as a reference entity in the archipelago.
