The president of the Chamber, José Valle, highlighted the importance of "working with order and planning to obtain immediate results in some aspects and in the medium term in other more complex ones"

Chamber of Commerce meeting with companies from La Graciosa

The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa met this Thursday with the companies of La Graciosa to analyze the needs and establish the priorities of the business activity on the eighth island. The meeting was a first contact to develop an action plan that will be determined in the coming months. For this, it is expected that the businessmen themselves will detail that list of improvements that will allow defining a roadmap to work together.

The president, José Valle, traveled to the island, accompanied by the vice president, Carmen Martinón and five other members of the plenary session. Miguel Páez, member of the Executive Committee and member of the Plenary, representative in La Graciosa, was waiting for them there. Páez is the person who acts as a direct link between the companies and the chamber institution. "The businessman from Graciosa knows well the uniqueness of the eighth island and the challenges that its inhabitants and the companies that carry out their activity there must face. For this reason, he highly valued the effort made by several of his colleagues in the institution to learn about the situation first-hand," they point out from the Chamber of Commerce.

For his part, José Valle was "very satisfied with the proposals launched by the attendees", who highlighted some specific problems with the transport of goods, the ports or the lack of basic information that visitors find when arriving on the island. In this sense, he highlighted the importance of "working with order and planning to obtain immediate results in some aspects and in the medium term in other more complex ones".

Re-boosting chamber activity in La Graciosa

The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, which changed its name when the eighth island was officially recognized, opened a public service office in 2019. The office is located in the municipal offices and operates by appointment. After the break caused by the pandemic and the changes produced in the executive, as a result of the elections, the new plenary session wanted to promote the activity started just over two years ago.
