Beatriz Calzada, president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, assured 'La Voz' that despite this, "activity is guaranteed"

The Lanzarote Island Council has lost the concession for the extension of fish handling activities in Puerto Naos, as La Voz has been able to confirm.

Specifically, it was at the last meeting of the Las Palmas Authority held last December where the allegations presented by the island council were dismissed.

It appears that the Lanzarote Island Council submitted this request out of time, which has led to its rejection. Regarding this, Beatriz Calzada, president of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, explained to this outlet that the public institution has filed an appeal to avoid losing the extension.

However, he revealed to *La Voz* that "the Cabildo of Lanzarote maintains that I submitted said request within the deadline."In addition, Calzada has sent a message of reassurance to fishermen, assuring them that at the last council meeting it was agreed that "regardless of whether it was through an extension or a new concession, **the activity will continue, it is guaranteed**".He also pointed out that it is not yet known whether the Cabildo or the fishermen themselves will manage the activity within a possible new concession, "whatever is most beneficial".
