The Tax Agency has just updated its Statistics of IRPF taxpayers by municipalities (over 1,000 inhabitants) corresponding to the year 2021.
In it, Teguise appears with an average gross income per taxpayer of 28,081 euros and a disposable income of 22,903 euros per year, the highest on the island. Teguise is also the fifth richest municipality in the Canary Islands.
Disposable income is calculated after deducting income or wealth taxes as well as social security contributions and benefits, among other deductions.
The second place is occupied by San Bartolomé, where citizens have an average gross income of 25,236 euros and 20,979 euros in disposable income. San Bartolomé ranks 16th among the municipalities of the entire archipelago.
Tías and Haría have very similar data. Residents in Tías have an average gross income of 24,714, while for those in Haría it is 24,493. The disposable income is respectively 20,628 and 20,552 euros. They occupy positions 20 and 22 among the municipalities of the Canary Islands.
Next, Tinajo, whose taxpayers have an average gross income of 23,072 euros. Their disposable income amounts to 19,471 euros. It occupies position 33 in the Canary Islands.
The lowest gross incomes per taxpayer are found in Arrecife (21,677 euros) and in Yaiza (21,104 euros). In the capital, the average disposable income amounts to 18,383 euros, while in the south it is 18,011 euros per taxpayer, the lowest on the island. They occupy positions 46 and 56 respectively among the municipalities of the archipelago.
Santa Brígida and El Rosario, the richest municipalities in the archipelago
The municipality in the archipelago with the highest income per taxpayer is Santa Brígida, in Gran Canaria. There, the average gross income is 37,735 euros, while the disposable income amounts to 29,704 euros.
The second richest municipality in the archipelago is located in Tenerife. This is El Rosario, where the average gross income is 33,529 and the disposable income is 26,713 euros.
The capitals of the Canary Islands occupy the third and fourth place. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the gross income amounts to 29,269 euros and the disposable income to 23,833 euros, while in Santa Cruz de Tenerife it is 28,662 and 23,417 respectively.
