Tax Agency returns more than 600 million euros to Canary Islands taxpayers

The total amount is 41.5% more than what was returned to Canary Islanders in the previous income tax year.

The Tax Agency has returned a total of 629.816 million euros to Canary Islands taxpayers from the 2022 income tax campaign, 95.95% of what was requested.

This figure represents 41.59% more than in the 2021 income tax campaign (444.817 million euros), when 15.17% fewer refunds were recorded in the Canary Islands.

Nationally, the amount of refunds amounts to 11.269 million euros, 95% of what was requested.

Thus, 14,691,000 taxpayers of the Income Tax on Individuals (IRPF) of 2022 had received their refund, which represents 97.5% of those requested.

At the end of the year, a total of 23,005,000 returns had been filed, 3.9% more than the previous year, of which 65.5% (15,067,000) were with a result to be refunded and 6,435,000 with a balance to be paid.

The vast majority filed the return online

The vast majority of taxpayers, almost 92% of the total, filed their income tax return online, a large part of them (20.6 million) through the agency's website, 3.2% more than the previous year, and the rest (528,000 returns), through the mobile application, a channel that this year has registered an increase of 23.3%.

A total of 1.07 million returns were filed by telephone, through the 'We Call You' plan, and represents almost 58% of all filings made with personalized assistance.

The rest correspond to the more than 779,000 returns filed in the offices, 20.1% more than the previous year.
