The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, opens the deadline for submitting applications to access the call for Subsidies for Operating Expenses in Agricultural Holdings corresponding to the year 2025, a measure already approved in the Governing Council and published today in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas (BOP).

These aids, endowed with 50,000 euros, aim to alleviate the costs borne by farmers of Lanzarote and La Graciosa due to the increase in the price of materials, services and transport, aggravated by double insularity. The call is part of Line 410-10 of subsidies for actions in support of the primary sector of the island.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and councilor of the Area, Oswaldo Betancort, has stressed that "these aids are intended to cover the overcosts of the sector and contribute to the maintenance of an agricultural landscape that is part of the environmental and cultural value of our islands".

"When we support the primary sector, we are also protecting our landscape and our agricultural culture, these aids allow us to sustain this activity in the face of the difficulties imposed by insularity," said Betancort.

The subsidies will allow financing up to 70% of the cost of the activity, with a maximum of 3,500 euros for professional farmers and 1,050 euros for amateur farmers. The eligible concepts include the purchase of materials, external services such as water transport, machinery or technical advice and the hiring of personnel.

Individuals or legal entities that carry out agricultural activity in Lanzarote or La Graciosa may benefit, provided that they are registered in one of the official registers linked to the sector, such as the REGEPA, ROPO, REAC, REGOE, the Regulatory Council of the D.O. Wines of Lanzarote or the Census of Agricultural Entrepreneurs of the Tax Agency.

The call is processed under a competitive concurrence regime and prioritizes professional farmers, as well as young farmers and those registered in organic production. In addition, a minimum area of exploitation of 3,000 square meters and a minimum expenditure of 1,000 euros is required in order to qualify for the subsidy.

The deadline for submitting applications will be fifteen working days and interested parties may process their applications in person at the offices of the Island Agricultural Service or through the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. You can access the announcement of the BOP.
