The Cabildo of Lanzarote has published on the notice board of its Electronic Headquarters the document called Provisional Hunting List 2026, prepared by the Area of Environment and Natural Environment.
This official publication compiles the list of admitted and excluded applications for obtaining licenses for this year's hunting season on the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The dissemination of the file formally opens the regulatory period for allegations and corrections so that excluded applicants can correct documentary incidents, provide proof of payment of fees or update their mandatory civil liability insurance policies before the final list is approved.
The 2026 hunting season in Lanzarote begins next Sunday, August 16, in accordance with the framework set by the Insular Hunting Council and ratified in the Canary Islands Order of Vedas. During the current campaign, the catalog of authorized game species for hunting is limited exclusively to three species of small game: rabbit, Barbary partridge, and rock dove. The hunting of any other species or feral animal outside the limits set by regional regulations is expressly prohibited.
Regarding the modalities and open days, the activity will be structured progressively throughout the calendar. Rabbit hunting using podenco dogs and ferrets will open the season from August 16, with Sundays and Thursdays being enabled as set for each zone. For their part, the hunting of Barbary partridge and rock dove with pointing dogs and shotguns, as well as practices using the falconry modality, will be incorporated in the later part of the summer calendar from September.
To carry out the activity during the permitted dates, hunters must carry at all times their valid insular license, proof of mandatory insurance, updated health documentation for hunting dogs, and correct identification via microchip in the case of registered ferrets.
