Canary Islands has announced the aid intended to support local production of hen eggs, within the framework of the Canary Islands Community Support Programme for Agricultural Productions (POSEI) for the 2026 campaign and charged to the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (EAGF).
The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, highlighted the increase in the unit aid, from 0.07 to 0.08 euros per dozen, promoted by the Canary Islands Executive in 2024 and approved by the European Commission in February 2025, which represents an improvement of 14.3% for egg producers in the Canary Islands.
In this regard, he pointed out that this update "contributes to offsetting the additional costs faced by the sector in the Archipelago due to its particularities as an outermost region and to improving its competitiveness".
The objective of the measure is to reinforce support for local egg production and contributes to maintaining livestock activity, promoting local supply, and strengthening the primary sector of the Islands.
This line of support has a financial allocation of 320,477 euros and sets an aid of 0.08 euros for each dozen eggs produced and marketed in the Canary Islands during 2026.
In addition, a 10% supplement is contemplated for beneficiaries who have received aid for the installation of young farmers within the framework of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 or the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy (SPCAP) 2023-2027, in the current campaign or in any of the previous four, and who maintain that condition during the campaign subject to the subsidy.
Individual producers or those grouped into associations or organizations engaged in the production and marketing of hen eggs on the islands may apply for these subsidies. In this regard, they must have a registered and updated laying hen farm in the Canary Islands Livestock Farm Registry (REGAC), comply with the sanitary, environmental, and animal welfare requirements established in current regulations, and prove their status as active farmers during the 2026 campaign.
Applications must be submitted between January 15 and January 31, 2027, both inclusive, through the Electronic Headquarters, using the standardized form. Along with the application, a certificate or bank document proving ownership of the account into which the aid will be deposited must be provided, unless it has already been submitted after the 2020 campaign. Likewise, it will be necessary to attach a computerized list of invoices corresponding to the eggs marketed, in the format established in the call.
