Passenger traffic in the State ports in the Canary Islands fell by 4.5% last June compared to the same month last year, a drop that was much more pronounced in the case of cruise passengers in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with 50.7% less, while in Santa Cruz de La Palma it decreased by 41.2%. In contrast, the volume of travelers increased by 3.6% in the Port of Arrecife last month.
In the set of State ports in the Canary Islands, a total of 627,684 travelers were recorded in the sixth month of the year, compared to 657,029 a year earlier, according to the Maritime Transport Statistics published by the Canarian Institute of Statistics (Istac).
Regarding cruise traffic, 19,870 passengers were recorded last June compared to 25,105 in the same month last year.
The opposite pole to the notable drops recorded in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma is represented by the port of La Luz, with an increase of 33.8%.
Regarding regular traffic, the ports of Los Cristianos and Santa Cruz de Tenerife had the highest traveler movement.
The former registered the passage of one in every three travelers who used these infrastructures.
The port with the greatest decrease in travelers was the Port of El Rosario, with a drop of 9.7% fewer travelers.
The number of TEU containers that passed through the Canary Islands ports in June was 1.8 percent higher than in the same month of 2025. In total, there were 181,142 units.
The Port of La Luz and Las Palmas has the largest volume of container traffic, accounting for seven out of every ten containers moved in the Canary Islands. Compared to the previous year, it increased by 6%.
In contrast, vehicle traffic decreased by 1.6%, with a total of 215,327.
The data from this statistic refers exclusively to the eleven State Ports that exist in the Canary Islands: Arrecife, El Rosario, Arinaga, La Luz and Las Palmas, Salinetas, Granadilla, Los Cristianos, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Sebastián de la Gomera, Santa Cruz de la Palma, and La Estaca.
