The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Directorate General of Transport and Mobility, headed by María Fernández, has granted an additional monetary contribution of 48,222.08 euros to the Island Council of Lanzarote to finance the construction of the preferential bus stop in Costa Teguise.

This contribution allows for the reimbursement of the equity funds advanced by the island institution to guarantee the complete execution of the infrastructure, which is part of a strategic sustainable mobility project included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU mechanism.

The new infrastructure will provide intermodality in transport with options for buses, taxis, bicycles or PRMs, as well as parking and electric vehicle charging points, among other services.

The action is part of a global investment exceeding 2.25 million euros, which will equip Costa Teguise with modern infrastructure aimed at improving collective passenger transport and the quality of urban space, reinforcing intermodality and the use of public transport in one of Lanzarote's main tourist and residential centers.

The Director General of Transport and Mobility, María Fernández, has stressed that "with this additional contribution, we guarantee the complete finalization of a key infrastructure for sustainable mobility in Lanzarote, meeting the milestones and objectives required by Europe and supporting the economic effort made by the Cabildo".

Fernández also highlighted that "the preferred stop in Costa Teguise is an example of how European funds can translate into real improvements for citizens, betting on more efficient, accessible public transport aligned with the ecological transition."
