The hotel chain Meliá has bought 50% of the capital of the Salinas Paradisus Lanzarote hotel from the company Victoria Hotels & Resorts, thus regaining control over the resort by increasing its stake to 53.75%

This operation reinforces its alliance with Bankinter Investment, through the joint company created in 2021 to acquire and reposition a hotel portfolio for more than 200 million euros.

According to the hosteltur news agency, Meliá Hotels International has explained that after recovering the debt ratios prior to the pandemic (already reached at the end of 2024), the chain has "greater financial strength", which allows it to address the recovery of the majority of this strategic property for the Group.

In the case of Victoria Hotels & Resorts and the manager GMA, the divestment is part of the asset rotation plan.

"For Meliá, the increase in participation in Paradisus Salinas is aligned with the group's strategic objectives in the Canary Islands and with the brand's expansion plan, coinciding with an extraordinary moment for the destination, which is becoming more and more established as a high-quality, four-season destination," explained Gabriel Escarrer, president and CEO of the chain.

"The strength of our balance sheet and the potential of this historic asset of our Company allows us to feel very comfortable with the 53.75% stake resulting from this operation," added Escarrer.
