Lanzarote, the island with the most companies per inhabitant in the Canary Islands

The Lanzarote municipality with the most business dynamism is Tías, where there is one company for every 19 residents

The island of Lanzarote, in addition to having the best employment data in the archipelago and the lowest unemployment in the Canary Islands, is also the island with the most companies per inhabitant

According to data from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC), Lanzarote currently has a total of 5,092 companies, which divided among the population data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of 2023, results in one company for every 31 inhabitants. 

Among the municipalities of Lanzarote, Tías is the one with the greatest business dynamism, since it has 19.5 companies per inhabitant, followed by Yaiza, where one business is registered for every 26 residents.

Teguise is almost in the average for Lanzarote, since it has one company for every 32 inhabitants, while Arrecife has one company for every 34 people. In San Bartolomé requires 39 residents, while in Tinajo and Haría the business ratio rises to 44 and 49 residents respectively. 

After Lanzarote, the islands of El Hierro and La Palma are located, where there are 350 and 2,514 companies respectively. Both have one business for every 33 residents.

In Fuerteventura and Tenerife it rises to 34 residents, those necessary for there to be a company. In total, the neighboring island has a total of 3,636 companies, while the largest island in the archipelago has 27,391 businesses. 

The islands with the lowest ratios of companies per inhabitant are Gran Canaria and La Gomera, where 37 residents are needed for each company created.
