The Lanzarote Business Confederation (CEL) celebrated this Tuesday the data on the active population on the island, which reflects an increase of 3,756 workers compared to 2022. These figures have been provided by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics and reflect that the island territory reached 66,791 professionals active during 2023, a figure that had not been achieved before "since there are records."
The president of the CEL, Francisco Martínez, explained that these figures not only show the economic recovery that the island has had in record time, "thanks to the effort of the business community and its ability to adapt to change", but also "it is an example of the entrepreneurial capacity of the citizens of Lanzarote.”
“When an entrepreneur makes his business work, the next step is to make it grow. And to attend to that growth, we need professionals. These figures are a clear example of how the business community on the island never stops improving, offering quality services and products that position us internationally,” he added.
In this sense, he valued the figure provided by the unemployment data, “the best since the 2008 crisis.”
Likewise, he highlights the increase in the number of professionals who work on their own, “demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit that is being generated on the island and the value of the proposals, which are nothing more than the result of the mixture between the talent that exists in Lanzarote and the constant and tenacious work of those who risk starting a business.”
