The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved this Tuesday the annex to the collaboration agreement with Proexca corresponding to the 2026 fiscal year, with the aim of continuing to promote the internationalization of the island's economy, expanding the commercial opportunities for Lanzarote companies, and reinforcing the island's positioning before potential investors.
The action plan includes a joint investment of 82,965 euros for the Taste Dublin 2026 initiative, of which 52,965 euros correspond to the Cabildo of Lanzarote and 30,000 euros to Proexca. This action is integrated into the External Promotion Area and is part of the measures aimed at projecting the island's economy in international markets.
The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, highlights that “Lanzarote has companies, products, and projects capable of making their way beyond our borders. From the Cabildo, we want to contribute to translating that potential into new commercial relationships, business opportunities, and economic activity, while simultaneously reinforcing the competitiveness and diversification of our economy.”
Betancort emphasizes that cooperation with Proexca allows for the pooling of resources and capabilities to advance a development strategy that is not limited to the local market. “We must continue working so that Lanzarote gains presence abroad, generates confidence among those seeking new destinations to invest in, and takes advantage of the opportunities offered by other markets. Internationalization is a tool to strengthen our productive fabric and build an economy with more future possibilities and more employment.”
For her part, the Minister of Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, emphasizes the usefulness of this collaboration in promoting concrete promotional and business support actions. “Our goal is to facilitate Lanzarote companies in showcasing their products and services, establishing strategic contacts, and exploring new markets. To achieve this, it is essential to work in a coordinated manner and develop actions that respond to the needs of our productive fabric and the opportunities that arise internationally,” Machín stresses.
Attracting investments for Lanzarote
The collaboration between the Cabildo and Proexca also incorporates a specific line of work aimed at attracting investments for Lanzarote. In this area, it is planned to identify business projects susceptible to being established on the island, as well as to provide advice and support to initiatives that can contribute to the island's economic development.
The plan also includes international promotion actions aimed at fostering innovation, boosting economic diversification, and generating qualified employment, along with initiatives to reinforce Lanzarote's image as an attractive territory for the development of new business projects.
In this regard, the executive CEO of Proexca, Pablo Martín Carbajal, points out that "Proexca has a special sensitivity towards the non-capital islands, understanding the reality of these islands and the need to support them closely in internationalization”.
“To this end,” adds Martín, “our work hand in hand with the Cabildos and also with the Chambers of Commerce is fundamental. In addition to this action with Lanzarote, we have specific programs that we promote, such as Aporta Islas No Capitalinas, which are key to helping SMEs continue to grow abroad with direct subsidies, and in this regard, Lanzarote is the non-capital island with the most internationalization projects."
