Lanzarote closed 2022 with a total of 4,937 companies, 317 more businesses than there were a year before, when 4,620 were counted, according to the Lanzarote Data Center.
The island's business fabric experienced a strong recovery during the past year and is very close to matching the records prior to the COVID-19 health crisis.
As usual, hospitality and commerce, with 1,255 and 1,002 companies respectively, account for almost half of the island's companies.
Next, the transport and storage sector is the economic area that brings together the most companies on the island with a total of 415 businesses. It is also one of the economic sectors that has grown the most compared to 2021, as it closed 2022 with almost 20% more companies.
The sector of professional, scientific and technical activities brings together 300 companies and that of administrative activities and auxiliary services 257.
The number of companies dedicated to art and entertainment on the island is the one that has grown the most proportionally during 2022. With a growth close to 40%, there are already 232 businesses in the sector.
Next, the real estate sector with 196 companies. Health activities and those related to social services bring together 129 companies, while the education sector brings together 106 companies.
