The president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, José Valle, took over the presidency of the General Council of Canary Chambers last Thursday, November 20, succeeding Juan Jesús Rodríguez Marichal, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura, after the end of his term.

The General Council of Canary Islands Chambers is a public law corporation with advisory and collaborative functions with the Government of the Canary Islands and other regional institutions. It represents and coordinates the Chambers of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Among its functions are the coordination of joint actions, the designation of Council representatives in regional bodies and entities, and the proposal of measures for the defense of the general interests of trade, industry, tourism, services, and navigation in the archipelago.

Following his appointment, José Valle expressed his willingness to strengthen cooperation between the four Chambers and to advance common lines of work that respond to the current challenges facing the Canary Islands' business community. "The Council is a fundamental instrument for conveying unified proposals and coordinating strategies that add value to the islands as a whole," he stated.

The Lanzarote and La Graciosa Chamber of Commerce recognizes the work carried out by the outgoing president, Juan Jesús Rodríguez Marichal, and reaffirms its commitment to joint work in defense of the economic and business interests of the Canary Islands.
