The former President of the Government of Spain, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, has confirmed his attendance at the first edition of the [Economic Thought Forum of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura->http://www.forodepensamientoeconomico.com/]. The event will take place this Friday the 28th at the Hotel Salinas in Costa Teguise, starting at 9:30 a.m.
The organizers of this event began contacting Rodríguez Zapatero last August, but his busy schedule prevented his attendance from being confirmed earlier. He previously had commitments to speak in Paris last Saturday and to attend a Council of State this coming Thursday.
The former President of the Government will participate in a panel made up of José Carlos Díez, chief economist of Intermoney for the last nine years and author of "There is life after the crisis"; and Juan José Toribio, spokesperson for the Spanish Banking Association. The moderator will be John Müller, deputy director of the newspaper El Mundo.
The other panel that completes the day will be dedicated to the analysis of the construction sector, the housing market and the financing and tourism developments. It will be integrated by Manuel Balmaseda, chief economist of Cemex and member of the Shadow Council of the European Central Bank, the former Minister of Tourism, Miguel Sebastián, and the professor of Applied Economics, Paloma Taltavull.
Placing the Islands in "the very center of reflection"
In this first edition, the Forum has had the support of a group of leading companies in the Canary Islands from their respective sectors such as the shipping company Fred Olsen, the airline Binter Canarias, the automotive group Cabrera Medina and the residential and tourist development company Club Lanzarote, a subsidiary of Hipotels.
The Lanzarote Business Circle, the promoting organization of the first Forum, and the sponsoring companies, agree on the challenge of placing the Islands in the center of economic reflection at the Spanish and European level. For the organizers, "the need to have solid and rigorous analyses of the international situation is unavoidable, as an essential element to respond to a global environment".
The organization has a website [www.forodepensamientoeconomico.com->http://www.forodepensamientoeconomico.com/], where you can expand the information about the speakers and the event schedules, as well as other data of interest.
