Hundreds of Lanzarote residents have traveled to the Open Mall in Arrecife this Thursday for the opening of the first Primark store in Lanzarote. With an investment of eight million euros and more than one hundred jobs, the store has 3,100 square meters of commercial space.
Primark's offer in Lanzarote includes garments designed with the latest trends in fashion, basics for everyday life,
beauty, leisure and articles for the home.
Primark is committed to offering more sustainable clothing at affordable prices for everyone. 50% of its clothing is made with recycled or more sustainable materials, compared to 25% just over a year ago.
Carlos Inacio, Director of Primark for Spain and Portugal, said: "We are very happy to finally open our new store in Lanzarote, a very popular destination among Irish tourists and which has a strong connection with Ireland, our market of
origin. This is our fourth store in the Canary Islands and number 58 in Spain."
Santiago Arzola, Manager of Open Mall Lanzarote, pointed out: “The shopping center is in luck. We are very pleased to be able to celebrate the opening of the new Primark store in the Canary Islands. From Open Mall Lanzarote we work to attract the best operators to our shopping center, with the aim of turning it into a benchmark, not only in Lanzarote, but also in the Canary Islands.
After the Lanzarote opening, Primark will open four new stores in three days in Europe and the United States, in addition to carrying out a
store expansion in the United Kingdom, which represents a total investment of more than 50 million euros and 12,600 additional square meters of commercial space.
Earlier this week, Primark opened its second store in Romania, and today, along with the new store in Lanzarote, the retailer is opening its new stores in Dundrum Town Centre, Ireland, and in Long Island, New York, as well as a newly expanded store in
Liverpool, United Kingdom. With these openings, the total number of Primark stores worldwide will amount to 425.
