Lanzarote became the setting for the recognition of female leadership with the presentation of the first List of Influential Women of the Canary Islands, compiled by Forbes Women.

More than a hundred leading women from the Canary Islands, along with institutional representatives and members of civil society, gathered last Wednesday, February 4th, at a meeting that honored the talent of the islands, and served as a prelude to the celebration, this Thursday the 5th, of the Forbes Canary Islands Economic Summit.

The master of ceremonies, Marta Jaumandreu, gave way to an evening in which music, conversation, and inspiration among different generations of women leaders created a close and complicit atmosphere. The Canary artist NIA -included in the aforementioned list- provided the musical note for the evening, reinforcing the link between culture, identity, and the projection of the Canary Islands

During her speech, Vera Bercovitz, Head of Content at Forbes Women, underlined the meaning of this initiative: "This list is born to give visibility to women who are truly influencing Canarian society, from very different fields, and to generate role models that inspire future generations".

For his part, Oswaldo Betancort, president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, highlighted the importance of continuing to promote spaces that recognize female talent and its role in the development of the territory, pointing out that "women's leadership is a key piece in the present and future of our islands".The event, organized by Forbes Women, has been possible thanks to the impetus of the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, and is part of a double event that focuses on the talent, capacity and leadership of the Canary Islands, and which continues this Thursday 5 with the celebration of the Forbes Canary Islands Economic Summit, in Jameos del Agua
