Fisheries grants more than 30,000 euros to the fishermen's associations of Lanzarote and La Graciosa

The Deputy Ministry of the Primary Sector of the Government of the Canary Islands has published the resolution of the final granting of subsidies for investments in equipment for fishermen's associations and sea cooperatives, which grants an amount of 590,204.75 euros to twenty-four entities from the eight islands of the archipelago in the period 2025.

These subsidies cover expenses related to inventoriable movable property, computer equipment, transportation elements for fishery products, or improvement of the entities' social equipment, as well as the adaptation of first-sale facilities, among other investments.

In the specific case of the fishermen's associations of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, the largest amount goes to La Tiñosa, which will receive 20,238.39 euros. Secondly, the Fishermen's Association of Playa Blanca obtains 5,690.80 euros to improve its equipment. For its part, the Association of La Graciosa will receive 4,009.68 euros and that of San Ginés 1,335.7 euros.

Financed with own funds from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, this line of support has been increased by 41% compared to 2024 to promote the improvement of the assets of fishermen's associations, their federations and sea cooperatives.

In this regard, the Deputy Minister of the Primary Sector, Eduardo García, highlighted that "the fishermen's associations and sea cooperatives play a fundamental role in the representation and defense of the economic, social and corporate interests of the sector, so supporting their work is the best way to ensure the continuity of fishing activity on all the islands."

Along with the express acceptance of the aid, within the framework of this line of action, a total of nine of the twenty-four beneficiary entities have submitted the application for advance payment to be able to meet the needs of planned investments.

This concession has financed all the files, which has allowed covering all the eligible concepts presented by the different associations.
