The Government of Canarias has already published all the calls for subsidies for the Canarian film industry for the year 2026. The Official Gazette of Canarias (BOC) includes today, Wednesday, July 22, those intended for the development of feature films and series and for the production of short films, which complete the broad package of aid for this sector. Throughout July, subsidies for production and minority co-production, scriptwriting, and event organization have been launched.
These subsidies respond to "the determined commitment of the Canarian Government to our audiovisual creation," highlights Migdalia Machín, Minister of Culture. "They represent a great opportunity to develop projects born in Canarias, which reflect the identity and creative talent that exists in our land and which has contributed to making the Canarian audiovisual sector an international benchmark."
The Directorate General for Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries is the promoter of these calls. The economic allocation for subsidies for the development of feature films and series and the production of short films is 520,000 euros, and the deadline for submission is set from July 23 to August 19, 2026.
Applications will be submitted exclusively online through the electronic headquarters of the Government of Canarias. As a collaborating entity, the Canarian Institute for Cultural Development provides access from its website to this and other procedures, its bases, and other useful information.
Other subsidies
Throughout the month of July, the bases for subsidies for the production and minority co-production of feature films and series have also been published, with allocations of 1,280,000 euros and 1,000,000 euros, respectively. The submission deadline for both concludes on August 3.
In addition, there is support for the writing of screenplays by Canarian authors, to which 125,000 euros will be allocated, and whose deadline will conclude on July 31. Likewise, the call for the organization of audiovisual events of small and medium format, which will receive 150,000 euros in aid, is open until July 28. Only those directed at cinemas in Canarias, for an amount of 262,000 euros, are pending publication, scheduled for the coming days.
