The average price of diesel fuel in Lanzarote has fallen below 1.6 euros per liter in May for the first time since the Strait of Hormuz was closed. The current average cost on the island stands at 1.58 euros per liter.
The highest this year in Lanzarote was a month ago when diesel reached 1.64 euros per liter.
At the beginning of 2026, before the conflict between the United States and Israel against Iran broke out, which led to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the opening of which is currently being negotiated, the price of diesel fuel in Lanzarote was 1.187 euros per liter.
On the other hand, gasoline continues to rise and has reached an average of 1.47 euros in May for its 95 octane version, the highest price of all 2026. At the beginning of the year, a liter of 95 octane gasoline cost an average of 1.185 euros in Lanzarote.
98 octane gasoline is also at its peak, specifically 1.571 euros per liter on average on the "conejera" island, compared to the 1.310 euros that was paid at the beginning of the year.
This week, the cheapest 95 octane gasoline can be found at Plenenergy establishments in Arrecife, where it is sold for 1.367 euros. The cheapest diesel is also found there at 1.435 euros.
To find the most economical 98 octane gasoline on the island this week, one must go to the Pcan in Arrieta, where it is priced at 1.529 euros per liter.
Conversely, the most expensive diesel on the island at the moment is sold at the Repsol on the LZ-2 towards Playa Blanca, where it costs 1.675 euros. The most expensive 95 octane gasoline is at the Disa in Yaiza (1.559 euros), which also has the most expensive 98 octane gasoline in Lanzarote (1.639 euros).
