The General Directorate of Commerce and Consumption will begin this month an inspection plan to verify compliance with the bonus for energy products such as gasoline, diesel and biodiesel in the Archipelago during the three months of validity of the application of the discount.

The general director of the area, David Mille, pointed out this Friday that this initiative has been agreed to verify compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Consumption regarding the application of a 20 cents discount for each liter of fuel and that should be reflected in the final payment of the consumer.

In this regard, Mille indicates in a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, that the objective is to avoid possible breaches that lead to unfair competition between companies, which will also benefit all users, who have seen how the price of gasoline has been increasing in recent months. Specifically, the inspections will be carried out from this month until June in the service stations of the islands.

To this end, eight inspection agents will be activated, four in each province, who will carry out between 75 and 90 inspections during these months, which will affect between 10% and 15% of the total number of gas stations, estimated at around 460.

This measure also complies with the delegation made by the Minister of Consumption, Alberto Garzón, to the autonomous communities to ensure that they verify the application of said discount, which came into force on April 1, as well as any unjustified variation in prices after the application of the bonus.

The minutes drawn up by the inspectors on possible breaches found in the visits they make to the service stations in the Canary Islands will be communicated to the National Commission of Markets and Competition.
