The annual rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) registered last May was positive in all autonomous communities in May, Canarias had the lowest (3.4%), while Galicia presented the highest (4.0%), according to data released this Thursday by the INE.
The general CPI for the entire country in May was 3.6%, three tenths higher than that registered the previous month. In the Canary Islands, the CPI rose by 0.1% in May compared to the previous month, while so far this year this indicator has grown by 1.7%,
The section on clothing and footwear registered a monthly increase in the islands of 1.4%. It was followed by that relating to housing, which increased by 0.9% compared to April.
However, the prices that have risen the most in the Canary Islands in the annual rate are those of food and non-alcoholic beverages, 5.3%; those of housing, 4.9%, and those of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, 3.7%.
