Puertos Canarios has awarded the works to renovate the pavement of the esplanade of the port of Caleta de Sebo, on the island of La Graciosa. The contract has been awarded to Hormigones Insulares, S.L. for an amount of 980,331 euros (IGIC excluded) and an estimated execution period of six months.

Caleta de Sebo concentrates the embarkation and disembarkation of regular passenger and goods traffic between Lanzarote and La Graciosa and registers more than 500,000 visits per year. As reported by Puertos Canarios, "the technical inspections have confirmed the deterioration of the surface, with unevenness that poses a risk of falls and hinders mobility, especially at times of greater influx".

The intervention includes the comprehensive renovation of the pavement and the installation of new conduits for future facilities and improvements, such as the optimization of access to the jetties and the incorporation of equipment.

"This award is the result of constant and very technical work. After two tenders that were declared void, we reviewed the project and updated prices so that the work could go ahead. We are doing this with the safety of the citizens and the essential service that this port provides every day in mind," said the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Mobility, Pablo Rodríguez Valido.

For his part, the managing director of Puertos Canarios, José Gilberto Moreno García, has highlighted that "our team has been dedicating time and effort for months to unblock a priority action due to the state of the pavement. With this award, we take a decisive step to offer a safer, more accessible space prepared for future needs."

The works will begin once the contract is formalized and will be programmed in a coordinated manner to minimize the impact on the port's daily operations.
