Canary Islands launches subsidies for applied research for three million euros

The Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, headed by Migdalia Machín, has published the 2025 call for grants for the realization of applied R&D projects executed by public research organizations and aligned with the priority areas of the Smart Specialization Strategy of the Canary Islands (extended RIS3).

These grants, co-financed through the ERDF Program Canary Islands 2021-2027, have an initial budget of 3 million euros and can apply for these grants public research organizations, universities, technology centers, health entities linked to the National Health System, accredited health research institutes and other public or private non-profit centers whose main activity is R&D&I.

The deadline for submitting applications will remain open from September 9 to September 30, 2025. The processing must be done exclusively through the electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture.

The subsidized projects must be executed in a period of minimum 12 months and maximum 36 months consecutive, and may include a limited extension according to the conditions established in the regulatory bases.

With this call, the Ministry of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands reaffirms its commitment to research excellence and to the generation of knowledge oriented to the strategic priorities of the Archipelago, promoting the transfer of results and strengthening the competitiveness of the Canarian scientific and technological system.
