Canary Islands extends the deadline for self-consumption and decarbonization subsidies

The decision is due to the impact of the Declaration of Technological Emergency on the operation of computer systems.

The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands has extended the deadline to submit applications for the call for aid aimed at promoting shared self-consumption, the development of energy communities and the decarbonization of the industrial sector worth 30 million euros from Next Generation funds.

The new deadline to submit applications will be July 28, 2025, instead of July 11 as initially planned.

This extension is a consequence of the Declaration of Technological Emergency decreed by the Government of the Canary Islands, which has affected the usual operation of the Administration's computer systems, which has made it difficult for citizens and entities to access the application procedure.

The area's councillor, Mariano Hernández Zapata, pointed out that "given this exceptional situation, it has been necessary to extend the deadline to ensure that all interested people and entities have enough time to complete their applications."

This call for European Next Generation funds is part of the Sustainable Energy Strategy in the Canary Islands and the aid is aimed at promoting projects for the installation of renewable energies, energy storage and improvement of energy efficiency, both in the residential and industrial fields.

The following may benefit from this subsidy: legal entities and natural persons, including natural persons who carry out economic activity and those who do not carry out economic activity but do carry out collective self-consumption.

Also, the Canary Islands entities and public administrations, the Canary Islands local entities and the institutional public sector of any Canary Islands Public Administration, provided that they act within the framework of public-private collaboration, renewable energy communities and citizen energy communities, energy service companies or energy service providers, as well as communities of property, irrigation communities and communities of owners or groups thereof.

The call for applications and the procedure for submitting applications are available at the electronic headquarters of the Government of the Canary Islands through the following link.
