The Ministry of Culture has awarded this Monday 30,735,600 euros to 31 feature film production projects based on projects for 2026, distributed among seven autonomous communities, of which two million correspond to two films that will be shot in the Canary Islands. Of the total number of subsidized projects, 30 are fiction films and one is a documentary.
The features are 'Anocheció en Córdoba', produced by the Canary Islands company La Claqueta Canary Islands, S.L. and 'Los viejos fotógrafos', produced by the Canary Islands company Volcano Films, S.L. (receives €1,000,000).
As reported by Culture in a press release, the total budget for the 2026 call is 62 million euros, to be resolved in two procedures, and this would be the first. These aids are fully charged to the available credit from the Cinematography Protection Fund of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).
Of the 47 projects that have applied for aid, 31 have been successful. Of these, 20 are international co-productions that have obtained aid worth 19,735,600 euros, representing 64.21% of the total allocation.
40% women
In compliance with the objective of reducing the gender gap, in all beneficiary projects the technical team has at least 40% female presence and nine are directed and written exclusively by women, representing 29.03% of the total.
Regarding executive production, out of a total of 39 admitted projects with women in that role, 29 have been successful. As for the composition of the Original Soundtrack (OST), out of a total of 31 admitted projects with women in that role, 20 projects have been successful, 64.52%.
Catalonia and Madrid, the most benefited
By autonomous communities, Catalonia receives the most aid with a total of 7,815,600 euros for 17 Catalan production companies participating in nine different projects.
It is followed by the Community of Madrid with 27 Madrid production companies, participating in 15 projects and receiving 6,920,000 euros, and the Basque Country, with 12 beneficiary production companies receiving 8,000,000 euros for the production of 10 feature films.
In fourth place, Andalusia: seven Andalusian production companies receive a total of 4,000,000 euros for their participation in six projects; ahead of the Canary Islands, with 2,000,000 euros for two production companies for the production of 2 feature films.
Finally, one Navarrese production company receives 1,000,000 euros and 5 Valencian production companies also receive 1,000,000 euros for their participation in 4 feature films.
